Blog Banter!

Welcome to the fourteenth installment of the EVE Blog Banter, the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by none other than me, CrazyKinux. The EVE Blog Banter involves an enthusiastic group of gaming bloggers, a common topic within the realm of EVE Online, and a week to post articles pertaining to the said topic. The resulting articles can either be short or quite extensive, either funny or dead serious, but are always a great fun to read! Any questions about the EVE Blog Banter should be directed to Check out other EVE Blog Banter articles at the bottom of this post!

The first banter of 2010 comes to us from the EVE Blog Father, in which I ask the following: As we begin another year in New Eden, ask yourselves “What Now?” What will I attempt next? What haven’t I done so far in EVE? Was it out fear, funds, or knowledge? Have I always wanted to start my own corporation, but have never dared doing so? Is there a fledging mercenary waiting to come out of its shell? Or maybe an Industrialist? What steps and objectives will I set myself to accomplish in order to reach my ultimate goal for this year? EVE is what you make of it. So, what is it going to be for you?

For a long time I’ve watched Blog Banter subjects pop up on my iPhone screen… And now I’m going to answer one! I’m assuming that usually people inform CK they’re doing these or something but I’m not really bothered at the moment, the question is generally a good one and now is a good time to answer it!

This year I intend to get myself a Marauder. 😀 I spent most of yesterday EVEMon-Warrioring (Kinda like when I EFT-Warrior…) and I have an exciting year ahead! A lot of the skillpoints will be going into getting various support skills to level V (I’m primarily a drone user and after spending months training to use tiny space robots I’ve decided I want to get better at shooting things with big guns) and getting T2 large beams and railguns (then blasters and pulses along the line)  then when that’s done I shall be looking into purchasing myself a Paladin. Aswell as Marauder-ish things I’m going to be aiming for T2 Heavy Assault Missiles so I can finally fly my Sacrilege without feeling like an idiot.

This Marauder  business is a big deal for me, it’ll mark the first truly “big” ship I’ll own. By “big”, I don’t mean price (I own a Legion and love it far too much), I literally mean size. For my entire EVE career the only battleship hull I’ve flown was a Dominix which I quickly replaced with an Ishtar for my missioning ship (I say replaced, I actually lost the Dominix when an alliance mining op in low sec got hot dropped). There is just something about flying Cruiser hulls (and Frigate hulls) that I find more enjoyable than flying something like a Dominix (which is painful ugly in my opinion). However, this has to change! So I decided to go the full way and not only buy a Battleship but spend several months getting the necessary skills to fly a Paladin and fit it with T2 Tachyons. Then depending how that goes I’ll consider getting a Kronos.

As for actual in game plans, I’ll be doing the same as I did last year…! Yep, that’s the boring answer. I’m basically a defacto WH guard and a PVEer so large portions of last year were spent chasing off scanning frigates in my Arazu (something I found more fun than any sane person should) and stalking intruders in my WH to get my corp members a warp in. I’m not much of a PVPer, I don’t want to try solo PVP as I’m not confident enough and my corp doesn’t fancy foraying into lowsec to satiate my bloodlust. Infact, in my life I have 3 solo kills, 2 of which are my CEO (he was my CEO at the time too) and the third was a cormorant who was salvager fit.

TL;DR: I’m going to be doing the same old crap I did last year, but being slightly more enthusiastic about it!
